My love of art and nature began with crayons at the dining room table drawing with my brother, Joe.
When we weren't drawing, we were outside hiking around our backyard forest, playing with our hamsters, gerbils, parakeets, morning doves, pigeons, dogs, turtles, turkins, and who knows what else! God bless my parents for being so brave!
Quiet time was spent watching Grizzley Adams, Marty Stouffer's Wild America shows, or Mutual of Omaha animal shows, or reading books about animals.
I learned a few more of the basics by taking as many drawing classes as I could during my high school years, and an oil painting class after graduating with a B. S. in Horticulture from Iowa State University.
Some of my first painting experiences involved watching Bob Ross on PBS as a child. Now both of my children and husband happen to LOVE Bob Ross. Through our shared interest in painting, and their countless requests to watch Bob Ross, I have watched his instructional videos hundreds of times.
I have been painting in oils for about 6 years now, and I absolutely love it.
My work has been exhibited in several local art galleries, sold at Nationally recognized juried art festivals, and featured in an international magazine and online publications.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
Nature has always been a huge part of my life and it inspires all of my work. My subject matter is forever evolving, but always has nature as its foundation. I am inspired by nature's vibrant colors, its forms, its textures, its inhabitants, the way we interact within it, and the many gifts we receive from it.
As a multi-disciplinary artist, my subjects range from impressionistic or abstract midwestern landscapes, to more intimate studies of midwestern flowers, to the many creatures that I have encountered in my midwestern surroundings, to commissioned pet portraits, and landscapes.
