This design was born from a photo I took of some Irises floating in an antique carnival glass bowl (hidden for this design). Both the Irises and the bowl are special to me.
The Irises came from my husband's mom, on the farm where we spent the first years of our married life together, farming and growing cut flowers.
Before we had an established plot for our cut flower production, Tim's mom would kindly let us raid her beautiful Irises for our farmers' market bouquets. Her giant bearded Irises were always show stoppers, and a Godsend, as they bloomed so early in the season (May), when we had very few things in bloom, but were still obligated to attend the market.
After we traded our farm life to city life, we brought some of those same Irises as transplants to Davenport, where they still flourish today.
The bowl, is one that Tim's late Grandma Mary had. I use it all the time,for my photography and think of her every time I use it! She was a cool woman who taught me to never apologize for who I am, and how I am wired! I am still working on that, but can always hear her voice when I need a boost of self confidence!
