It was about 5 or 6am on a late summer's morning, and I couldn't sleep. I snuck out of bed, grabbed my camera, and headed out to the front porch. It is so quiet and peaceful here on days when the air is calm. The heat and haze had already begun to rise, along with the beautiful hot pink sun. The goldenrod was still in bloom, and the crops had begun to dry, with fall harvest right around the corner.
This place holds many memories for me, as this is where I started my family, with my husband. We lived here for seven years, and helped farm the land with our family. As calm as it can be one day, the weather and winds can be brutal the next. After living this truth for a large part of my life, I have learned to appreciate the calm days when they come! There's a lot of truth in that old farmer's saying, "You gotta make hay while the sun's a shining!" If you don't, you could loose everything when the storm rolls in!
