The video above gives a little bit of back story about how "Abstract Pheasant, No. 1" was born.
When I finish one painting, it is not the end of the road for that piece. With the power harnessed by digital photography, I am able to create a series out of one original artwork.
After the original is complete, I will spend a great deal of time studying it up close, in sections, photographing the collections of colors and compositions that lie within the original piece.
Each section that I capture becomes a landscape of its own, after I take time to examine the results of the photo shoot. I am always amazed by the way each close up shot takes on a beauty and personality all its own. Especially after I rotate it and then view it in mock ups like this one! It astounds me here, that pheasant feathers have become a beautiful, earthy landscape with harmonious colors throughout. Nature’s colors never cease to disappoint me. I’m in love!
