Betty White was born in Oak Park, Illinois on January 17, 1922. She and her family moved to Alhambra, California when she was just a year old, in 1923. White went to elementary and high school in the Beverly Hills school district, and graduated in 1939.
Betty White was 8 years old when she participated in her first radio call in 1930.
In 1939, three months after graduating high school, Betty White and a friend sang songs on an experimental TV show. After that, she found work modeling, and acting jobs at the Bliss Hayden Little Theatre. Her career was put on hold when World War II. began and she assumed the volunteer role as a PX truck driver, hauling military supplies.
Betty did not have any biological children of her own, but she did have 3 step children with her husband, Allen Ludden, named David, Martha, and Sarah.
Betty White was married 3 times. Her first 2 marriages (#1 with US Airforce pilot Dick Barker, and #2 with Hollywood talent agent Lane Allen) ended shortly after realizing that each spouse wanted different things, ranging from a simpler life out in the country, to having children, when Betty wanted to focus on her career. White was married to Allen Ludden from 1963-1981, when he died from stomach cancer. White never remarried.
Betty White's television career spanned more than seven decades, from 1945 to 2022.
