How to Get the Best Pictures of Your Dog
Jun 20, 2018
If you have more than one dog, it might seem impossible to get them to pose together for a picture, but with the right amount of patience and timing, it can be done!
This is an 11 x 14 inch illustration I completed last fall for a client who needed a triple dog portrait. I just love the way the dogs are posed!
Tips to remember when trying to get the perfect picture with your phone.
- Don't force it!
- Wait for your dogs to get comfortable, and try to catch them when they aren't watching.
- Don't get their attention until your camera is focused and ready to hit the button.
- When you are ready to hit the button, position your eyes right above the lense of your phone, so your dogs will make eye contact with you.
- Then hold the phone really steady, and quickly push the button, but not so hard, so you can avoid taking a blurry picture.
- Avoid using the zoom on your phone. The more you zoom, the more the camera picks up your shakes, and will result in a blurry shot.
- Try to take the shot in natural, indirect light. Don't try to get a good shot in full sun at noon, as you will end up with horrible shadows.
- If it's noon, and that's the time you have to take the shot, go outside on the north side of the location. Bright shade is perfect for portraits!
