In today's newsletter, I will be sharing with you how I made an abstract piece of art that helped to raise nearly $300 for a charity close to my heart, JDRF, as I have a young nephew who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes a few years ago. I hope to show you that you can totally do this too!!!! You can make things like this and support great causes that are close to your heart! Now let's get to it!

The Process

• I started out with a wet paper, applying a drop of water color paint here and a drop there. Slowly, one drop at a time, interesting things began to happen. Each drop of granulation medium spread out the drops of watercolor paint, like an explosion on paper!Then, I began adding granules of salt; each one created a new effect, not only adding texture, but spreading the individual drops of dark paint from the center outward.
• Next, I began adding the inks. At first, I had planned to create a monochromatic piece, but my lack of self control and love for color got the best of me! I slowly added drops of every color in my possession.
• At first, I thought I had killed it! I thought I had completely ruined the piece, but as the colors began to blend and the individual drops of ink began to work with each other, a beautiful, abstract piece was born. My drops alone were just drops, but together, they resulted in a sea of colors!
